Tonight we get into some new music from some old favorites as well as some pretty classic hip hop just to balance the scales. What does that even mean?

No 29: New Music for Old People

The new music just keeps piling up. The first half of this week’s show is more singer/ songwriter- ish. Some great new Flaming Lips, some new band like Girls and some crowd favorites like Karen O. The second half is giant pile of high energy dance jams and I won’t apologies over it . I think all the new music is flooding my brain cause I sound like a total idiot of this episode (different from every other week how? (Quiet you!))

This week I’m feeling a little reflective and a little emo. I know, weird. This episode wasn’t suppose to be a themed mix but when I got all the records together I realized I had pick 15 total downers. Actually I think this episode ended up being pretty sweet.

th everyone. I’m going to assume you’re as sick of grilled meat, beer and people as I am. Good. Glad we got that established. Tonight I’m answering a direct challenge from a friend who shall remain nameless to protect him from reprisal from my furiously loyal listeners.

This week I continue with the new music kick, adding a few old gems for your consideration. Naturally this streak of new music can’t last forever but for the time being we seemed blessed with a steady stream of note worthy hits. Enjoy it while it lasts... these are the halcyon days my friends!

This week it’s just you and me…. The first half the show is a lot of what I’m calling Sleaze Rock, for lack of a better term. It’s just something I’ve been feeling, maybe it’s something in my diet. The second half is a bit more of what you’re used to. Blah, blah, blah!

Welcome to a new feature here on Enthusiastic Amateur. We’re going to start doing little mini podcast usually centered around one band, one song or one album. It’s not going to be an every week thing but we’ll do it on a time to time basis. This first edition is dedicated to Brian Eno’s seminal 1973 album “Here Come The Warm Jets”.

Again I find myself all alone in the Enthusiastic Amateur studio with my Coors and pulled pork sandwich (Shout out to
Kings County BBQ, best in NYC). No matter, we’ll have friends next week. For this week I’ve crammed together a bunch of songs I love. No order and no theme. If pushed on it, and clearly you are going to push, I’d say the first half is an eclectic mix with some avand-garde, some garage rock from Japan some Jazz and a little of the (relatively) new Animal Collective. The second half has a few new bands and some classic tracks from the last few years. After the regimentation of The Rece$$ion Mix I was ready to just cut loose a bit. Merci.
